چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Background and aims: Oral health status is among health related priorities in Iran. The aim of the present study was to systematically review the status of oral health in Iran using the DMFT (decayed, missing, filled teeth) index. Materials and methods: In this Meta-Analysis, all available data on DMFT were reviewed and 35 published studies were included in the study based on search strategy. To estimate overall DMFT and perform the meta-analyses, CMA:2 (Comprehensive Meta-Analysis) software was employed. Results: out of 876 articles, 35 entered the study. A total of 21849 individuals were included in the meta-analysis. Overall DMFT indices were 3.65 in children, 2.30 in adults, and 3.85 in children with mental/physical disabilities. Conclusion: Mean DMFT in the assessed published data was higher than that set forth by the world health organization. Further planning and taking effective preventive measures to improve the oral health status seems necessary.
